Treatments We Offer
At Cumberland Chiropractic we do whatever it takes to get our patients feeling better faster. For that reason we offer several different conservative treatments for muscle, nerve, and joint problems which we tailor to our patients condition. Your treatment will likely include several of the following treatments and therapies.
Active Release Technique
Active Release Technique (ART) is a highly effective method for releaseing scar tissue around muscles, ligaments, and nerves. Scar tissue is much like velcro and velcro makes movement hurt. ART is THE technique for releasing velcro. Few doctors are certified in this technique, and we are part of ART's "Elite Provider Network."
Class IV Laser Therapy
We have the top-of-the-line in deep tissue healing lasers. Our Lightforce 25 watt laser is safe, painless, and scientifically proven to decrease pain and improve healing. Simply put, our laser increases circulation and ATP (energy) to damaged tissue. The more circulation and ATP available, the better you feel and the faster damaged tissue heals. Want to know more? Custom Orthotics
Our doctors can tell you if the pain or problem you are having starts in your foot. If so, you may need a custom foot orthotic to dynamically support the arch of your foot. Sole Supports are a truly custom shoe insert that is incredibly effective while remaining affordable.
Dry Needling
Dry Needling involves the insertion of a thin filament needle to stimulate the healing process of soft tissues (muscle "trigger points", fascia, tendons, and ligaments, etc.) in order to provide pain relief and stimulate tissue healing. This therapy is very effective for chronically tight and painful muscles also referred to as trigger points.
Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS)
DNS is a rehabilitative strategy we use to retrain the body and brain on proper stabilization during movement. As a baby grows, they gain the ability to perform new movements like rolling over, sitting up on their own, etc. These movements come pre-programmed in our brains to start at certain times. Our clinicians utilize these pre-programmed ideal movement patterns to retrain poor posture and movement that lead to overworking tissues that cause pain and degeneration.
FAKTR - Instrument Soft Tissue Manipulation
FAKTR (pronounced "factor") stands for Functional and Kinetic Treatment with Rehab. An instrument is used to perform "cross fiber massage" over the problematic area while the patient moves to stretch, provoke, or challenge the injured tissues. FAKTR is the gold standard for repairing chronic tissue damage.
Functional Rehab Exercises
Our elite treatments change the way you move so you stop hurting and stop the "pattern" that made you start hurting. Stretches, that are unique to each patient, help us to loosen what is tight or heal what is injured. Exercises train your brain to stabilize where stability is lost or move/sit/stand the way you were intended, so you stop the vicious cycle of causing your pain. If you will help us by doing what we ask, we will keep you better, longer!
Massage Therapy
Whether used in conjunction with chiropractic care or separately, massage therapy is designed to relieve tense muscles and tendons to relieve pain and promote well being. Our massage therapist offers many modalities of massage such as Swedish, Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular, Fascia Release, CranioSacral, Trigger Point, Cupping, and Rain Drop Massage.
Motion Palpation Institute Adjusting
This Chiropractic technique is the state-of-the-art in assessing and adjusting the spine and joints of the extremities. Cumberland Chiropractic and Sports Medicine is part of the elite network of chiropractors certified by the Motion Palpation Institute (MPI).
Orthopedic Examination
We place our hands on the area as you move or we move you in order to precisely recreate your pain. By feeling it as you feel it and having an extensive knowledge of anatomy and function, we will pinpoint and diagnose the root cause of your pain.
Selective Functional Movement Assessment
These are movement tests utilized to survey the entire body for dysfunction. Even though you have a low back pain, it could be caused by a hip, knee, or ankle issue, for example.
TMJ Dysfunction
The jaw requires a specific knowledge set in order to fix. Our doctors know the jaw, its cranial nerves, the muscles that move it and the very complicated patterns of this "ginglymoarthrodial" joint. If your jaw or even face/ear is hurting, tight, or popping then you need us. We have trained with the best in the country and can help you with your TMJ!
